The Inspector General of Government (IGG) of Uganda has held a courtesy meeting with the Country Director of ActionAid International Uganda, Mr. Samuel Ntale, at his office in Kansanga, to review ongoing collaboration in the fight against corruption and the promotion of integrity and accountability. The discussions focused on strengthening the longstanding partnership between the Office of the Inspectorate of Government (IGG Uganda) and ActionAid International Uganda, particularly in advancing joint initiatives aimed at promoting good governance and transparency.
Both parties acknowledged the impact of collaborative anti-corruption programmes implemented over the years, which have contributed to increased public awareness and citizen engagement in accountability processes across the country. Key initiatives highlighted during the meeting included the Anti-Corruption Caravan, a nationwide outreach programme designed to sensitize communities on the dangers of corruption and mobilize citizens to actively participate in prevention efforts.
The National Citizens’ Integrity Awards were also discussed as a flagship initiative recognizing individuals and organizations that demonstrate exemplary integrity, accountability, and service delivery in public and private sectors. The IGG and the ActionAid Country Director reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in order to strengthen citizen participation in the prevention and elimination of corruption.
They further emphasized the importance of sustained public engagement and multi-stakeholder collaboration in promoting ethical governance practices. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to advancing accountability frameworks and reinforcing Uganda’s broader national efforts to combat corruption.
