The Chief Ombudsman of Türkiye, Mr. Mehmet Akarca, received a courtesy visit from the Ambassador of Malaysia to Ankara, Mr. Adlan Mohd Shaffieq, to discuss the role of ombudsman institutions in promoting good governance and administrative justice.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Mehmet Doğan, Secretary General of the Public Ombudsman Institution of Türkiye.
During the visit, discussions focused on the development of ombudsman institutions and the importance of independent grievance redress mechanisms in strengthening transparency, accountability, and public trust.
As Malaysia continues the process of establishing its own Ombudsman institution, Mr. Akarca shared Türkiye’s institutional experience, outlining the mandate, functions, and powers of the Public Ombudsman Institution of Türkiye. He also highlighted the institution’s key activities and its role in safeguarding citizens’ rights through impartial review of complaints against public administration.
The exchange provided an opportunity to share best practices and institutional knowledge, reflecting the value of international cooperation in supporting the development of effective ombudsman systems.
The meeting underscores the continued commitment of both countries to promoting good governance and strengthening public institutions through dialogue and collaboration.
