The Mediator of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire convened an institutional panel on 27 July 2026 at Cocody Cité des Arts under the theme:
“Artificial Intelligence and Mediation Institutions: Opportunities, Risks, and Dangers.”
Organized under the leadership of the Mediator of the Republic, Mr. Gaoussou Touré, the event brought together experts from the Ministry of Digital Transition and Technological Innovation (MTNIT), the Regulatory Authority for Telecommunications/TIC of Côte d’Ivoire (ARTCI), the National Information Systems Security Agency (ANSSI), and members of the legal community to discuss the evolving role of artificial intelligence in public administration and mediation.
Examining AI’s Impact on Public Institutions
The discussions focused on four key themes critical to the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence:
- Integration of AI into public services to improve efficiency and service delivery.
- Responsible management of sensitive data while protecting citizens’ privacy.
- Prevention of cybersecurity threats associated with digital transformation.
- Legal safeguards and protections to ensure that the use of AI respects citizens’ rights and the rule of law.
The panel highlighted both the opportunities presented by emerging technologies and the importance of ensuring that innovation is accompanied by strong ethical, legal, and institutional frameworks.
The event reaffirmed the Mediator of the Republic’s commitment to embracing innovation while maintaining the core principles of fairness, accountability, and citizen protection.
In his remarks, Mr. Gaoussou Touré expressed appreciation to His Majesty Amon Tanoé Paul Désiré, President of the National Chamber of Traditional Kings and Chiefs (CNRCT); Mr. Djibril Ouattara, Minister of Digital Transition and Technological Innovation; Mr. Abou Bamba, Minister of Environment and Ecological Transition; Mr. Christian Arnaud Adjelou, President of the National Human Rights Council, as well as all panelists for their valuable contributions to the discussions.
Through this initiative, the Mediator of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire reaffirmed its commitment to promoting responsible digital transformation, ensuring that technological innovation supports a modern, accessible, and citizen-centred mediation institution.
