Her Excellency Ms. Ghada Hameed Habib, Secretary-General of the Ombudsman’s Office, honored a group of students from the University of Bahrain and the University of the Kingdom of Bahrain upon their successful completion of their practical training, which ran from June 21 to August 20, 2026.

The intensive training program combined specialized theoretical and practical components designed to integrate academic knowledge with field experience. Through the program, students gained firsthand insight into the workings of the Ombudsman’s Office across its various departments and divisions, as well as an understanding of its role within the criminal justice system in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The trainees also learned about the efforts undertaken to promote respect for human rights and uphold human rights standards in police work. In addition, they were introduced to the procedures followed during the Office’s visits to correctional and rehabilitation centers and pretrial detention facilities — a core component of the Office’s oversight mandate.
This recognition forms part of the Ombudsman’s Office’s ongoing commitment to building bridges of cooperation with academic institutions in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The initiative aims to develop students’ capabilities, equip them with skills required in practical life, and inform them of the professional and legal practices adopted by independent national redress institutions — practices that keep pace with those applied by long-established bodies and institutions at the international level.
