Peshawar — Provincial Ombudsperson Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Barrister Rabab Mehdi, met with Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor House, Peshawar, and presented him with the annual performance report of the institution.
On this occasion, Rabab Mehdi informed the Governor that the institution has taken effective steps to secure women’s legal rights, as a result of which properties worth approximately Rs 4.1 billion were returned to women across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
She said that more than 19,000 hearings were conducted by the institution during the last year, with an average of 80 to 200 complaints and cases being disposed of on a daily basis.
Rabab Mehdi further informed the Governor that, for the first time, special open courts were organized to deliver justice to women at their doorstep, ensuring dedicated participation of women in Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan.
She added that Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) have also been signed with the National Assembly and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly to promote effective redressal of public grievances and strengthen cooperation on legislative matters.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi appreciated the performance of the Provincial Ombudsperson, describing the provision of legal and economic rights to women as a welcome development. He noted that the institution of the Provincial Ombudsperson is playing an important role in delivering prompt and affordable justice to the people, commending its services for the protection of women’s rights.
