Lahore: Ombudsperson Punjab Dr. Najma Afzal Khan held a meeting with Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad to discuss key initiatives aimed at strengthening institutional mechanisms for preventing workplace harassment and promoting a safe, respectful working environment within the Punjab Assembly.
During the meeting, Dr. Najma Afzal Khan presented the proposed Code of Conduct for review and implementation, highlighting its role in fostering professional standards and safeguarding the rights and dignity of employees.
The two dignitaries also discussed the establishment of an Anti-Harassment Committee within the Punjab Assembly as part of ongoing efforts to reinforce institutional accountability and ensure an effective mechanism for addressing workplace harassment.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing institutional collaboration and agreed to continue working together to promote a secure and inclusive workplace. Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad assured the Assembly’s full support for initiatives aimed at maintaining a harassment-free environment within the Assembly premises.
The proposed Code of Conduct is expected to contribute to the protection, inclusion, and empowerment of women while reinforcing principles of equality and respect in the workplace.
The Ombudsperson Punjab reiterated that these initiatives are being pursued in accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif for “Zero Tolerance Against Harassment,” underscoring the provincial government’s commitment to strengthening safeguards against workplace harassment.
