Arbitration Conference Participation
As President of OICOA and Chief Ombudsman, Mr. Mehmet Akarca spoke at the 9th Istanbul Arbitration Conference.
Moreover, the event theme was Partnerships for Peace and New Perspectives on Arbitration in a Changing World.
In his speech, “Humanitarian Activities during the Period of Conflict,” he described the Institution’s humanitarian work. He noted its mediation between the Ukrainian and Russian Ombudsmen on prisoners of war.
Moreover, a rights-based approach should guide peace and reconstruction after conflict.
He stressed international cooperation. The ombudsman institutions can play a key role in it.
This aligns with the OIC’s standards for humanitarian work. OICOA commends our member institution for showing how ombudsman institutions can contribute to humanitarian efforts and peace.
