Peshawar — In a significant step toward strengthening women’s protection mechanisms across Pakistan, Ombudsperson Punjab Dr. Najma Afzal Khan, accompanied by Deputy Director Admin Muhammad Akhtar Hussain, met with KP Ombudsperson Barrister Rabab Mehdi and Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi.

The meeting centered on key priorities including protection of women from workplace harassment, promotion of safe and dignified work environments, strengthening institutional collaboration between the two provinces, and enhancing the operational performance of ombudsperson offices in Punjab and KP.

Governor Kundi reaffirmed that ensuring equal opportunities for women across all sectors — free from fear or obstruction — remains a core responsibility of the state. He commended the vital role played by ombudsperson institutions in delivering timely justice, curbing workplace harassment, and building public trust in state institutions.

As members of the Forum of Pakistan Ombudsmen (FPO) and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Ombudsman Association (OICOA), both Ombudsperson offices reiterated their commitment to advancing regional and international best practices in institutional accountability and gender-responsive governance.

The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to continue working together toward a safer, more inclusive, and more equitable society for working women across Pakistan.
