Maputo, August 2025 – The Office of Justice marked its presence at the 60th edition of the Maputo International Fair (FACIM), held from August 25 to 31 in Ricatla, Marracuene District, with the objective of bringing its services closer to citizens and raising public awareness about its mandate.

Located at the Nachingweia Pavilion, the Ombudsman’s booth attracted dozens of visitors daily, eager to learn more about the institution’s role in protecting citizens’ rights, ensuring legality, and monitoring the performance of public administration.
The participation forms part of the Ombudsman’s strategy of decentralization and proximity to the people, allowing for direct interaction with citizens, providing explanations on reporting mechanisms, and distributing information materials such as brochures and leaflets to ensure access to accurate knowledge about the institution’s services.
A highlight of the fair was the historic visit of the President of the Republic, Daniel Francisco Chapo, who toured the Ombudsman’s stand and interacted briefly with the team. During his visit, some citizens also took the opportunity to present their grievances, reaffirming the growing trust in the Ombudsman as an alternative mechanism for resolving conflicts between public administration and service users.

Over the course of the seven-day event, the Ombudsman’s team provided detailed clarifications on its assignments and operations, responding to queries from the public and emphasizing the importance of safeguarding fundamental rights.
The Maputo International Fair – Mozambique’s largest annual economic and business exhibition – brought together more than 2,350 national and 800 foreign exhibitors from 30 countries, under the theme “FACIM: Promoting Economic Diversification towards Sustainable and Competitive Development of Mozambique.”
This marks the second consecutive year of the Ombudsman’s participation at FACIM. In its debut in 2024, the institution received approximately 350 visitors at its stand in the Matchedje Pavilion – a number expected to be surpassed during this year’s expanded engagement.
