The Office of the Ombudsman Punjab was honoured to collaborate with the African Ombudsman and Mediators Association (AOMA) and the African Ombudsman Research Centre (AORC) in a high-level international webinar titled “Evidence-Based Capacity Building: Strengthening African Ombudsman Practice Through Data, Learning and Institutional Innovation.”

The webinar was opened by the Honourable Ombudsman of Punjab and moderated by Honourable Ms. Grace Malera, Ombudsman of Malawi. The session brought together distinguished representatives from Ombudsman institutions to exchange knowledge, experience and institutional practices aimed at strengthening oversight, complaint management and public service accountability.

Mr. Ahmed Yar Khan, Advisor Research & Development, Office of the Ombudsman Punjab, delivered the keynote presentation. He highlighted Punjab’s evidence-based complaint management system, institutional capacity-building model, digital innovations, and the Awaami Khidmat Programme Mobile Complaint Van Initiative as practical examples of citizen-focused service delivery and institutional innovation.

Mr. Kaiser Saleem, Secretary to the Ombudsman Punjab, also shared valuable insights on governance systems supporting effective oversight, institutional efficiency and responsive public administration.

The session concluded with remarks by Honourable Ms. Anne Muhairwe, Acting President of AOMA and Deputy Inspector General of Government of Uganda. Honourable Ms. Aimée Laurentine Kanyana, Ombudsman of Burundi and First Vice-President of AOMA, delivered the vote of thanks.

The webinar reaffirmed a shared commitment to strengthening international collaboration in research, training, institutional innovation and capacity development under the joint slogan:

“From Data to Justice, From Learning to Impact.”
