ABIDJAN — On Friday, 5 June 2026, the Mediator of the Republic, Mr. Gaoussou Touré, participated in the official ceremony marking World Environment Day, held at the esplanade of Towers A and B of the Administrative City of the Plateau.

The event was organized by the Ministry of the Environment and Ecological Transition under the theme “Air – Action for Climate” as part of the National Environment and Climate Fortnight (QNEC).
Celebrated annually on 5 June under the auspices of the United Nations, World Environment Day seeks to raise awareness of environmental challenges and encourage concrete actions aimed at preserving the planet.
The occasion highlighted Côte d’Ivoire’s commitment to addressing the challenges of air pollution and climate change through sustainable development, environmental protection, and the promotion of green growth for the benefit of present and future generations.
The ecological transition was also recognized as an opportunity to strengthen economic resilience, create green employment opportunities, and contribute to the sustainable improvement of living conditions for communities.
The Ombudsman of Côte d’Ivoire, a member institution of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ombudsman Association (OICOA), participated in the event in support of national efforts promoting environmental sustainability and climate action.
