Maputo, Mozambique – August 28, 2025
The Ombudsman of Justice, Isaque Chande, has described the institution’s participation in the 60th Edition of the Maputo International Fair (FACIM) as a strategic opportunity to strengthen citizen engagement and raise awareness about the Ombudsman’s role in defending rights and promoting accountability.

Speaking during his visit to FACIM on Thursday, Chande emphasized that many Mozambicans remain unfamiliar with the services of the Ombudsman, making the fair an ideal platform to interact directly with the public.

“FACIM is an opportunity to present our services and place ourselves at the disposal of citizens. Both national and foreign residents in Mozambique can come here to learn what we do, how we do it, and how they can access our services,” Chande said.

He reiterated that citizens dissatisfied with the actions of state institutions can seek the Ombudsman’s intervention, which works to mediate and find solutions in collaboration with the relevant bodies.

During his visit, Chande toured several pavilions, met exhibitors from multiple sectors, signed the book of honor at the National Penitentiary Service (SERNAP) stand, and commended the improved organization and quality of this year’s fair compared to 2024.

The Ombudsman’s stand, located at the Nachingwea Pavilion, offers citizens access to information, complaint channels, and guidance on reporting mechanisms.

The 60th Edition of FACIM is being held from 25–31 August 2025 in Ricatla, Marracuene district, under the theme: “Promoting Economic Diversification towards Sustainable and Competitive Development of Mozambique.” The fair brings together national and international exhibitors showcasing a wide range of products and services.
