The Ombudsman’s Office of Mozambique opened a two-day training on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, for staff of the Child’s Voice Line, ending on 14 October. About 20 participants took part in the activity, held under a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions.

The training aims to strengthen institutional cooperation and improve responses to violations of children’s rights. Participants deepened their knowledge of the Ombudsman’s mandate, competences and procedures, and of how to refer cases that may come before the Office.
Ombudsman Isaque Chande stressed the need for coordinated efforts, suitable intervention mechanisms and permanent communication among institutions. He said cooperation should rest on legality, confidentiality and institutional responsibility, always placing the child’s best interest first, and that referrals must ensure no child is left unprotected. He also described the training as a space for open dialogue to identify challenges and practical solutions.

Luís Chauca, representative of the Child’s Voice Line, said the training would equip his team to better understand the Ombudsman’s mechanisms and the procedures for submitting and referring petitions and complaints.
The Child’s Voice Line provides a channel through which children and citizens can report violence, abuse, neglect and other violations of children’s rights.
OICOA commends our member institution for this work.
