The National Human Rights Commission Bangladesh, a member institution of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ombudsman Association, organized an internal in-house training session on 11 May 2026 focused on the “Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (OPCAT).”
The training session was held at the Commission Meeting Hall and attended by officers and employees of the Commission as part of ongoing institutional capacity-building initiatives.
The session was conducted by Mohammad Asaduzzaman Noor, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Department, who served as the resource person and trainer for the program.
During the training, participants engaged in discussions on international human rights standards, mechanisms for the prevention of torture, and the importance of institutional awareness regarding the implementation of OPCAT principles.
The initiative reflects the continued commitment of NHRC Bangladesh toward strengthening professional capacity, promoting human rights education, and advancing institutional understanding of international human rights obligations.
As a member institution of OICOA, NHRC Bangladesh continues to contribute to the promotion of human dignity, accountability, and protection against torture and inhuman treatment.
