PROVISION OF JUSTICE AND UKRAINE EMBASSY EXPLORE WAYS OF COLLABORATION
As part of its ongoing efforts to expand institutional partnerships, the Office of the Ombudsman of Mozambique continues to strengthen its engagement with public and private entities, as well as accredited diplomatic missions. These efforts aim to promote cooperation, encourage the exchange of experiences, and enhance mechanisms for safeguarding citizens’ fundamental rights and freedoms.

In this context, Ombudsman Isaque Chande received the Ambassador of Ukraine to Mozambique, Rostyslav Tronenko, in his office on November 25, during a courtesy meeting. The discussion centered on the functioning, mandate, and institutional competencies of the Office of Justice, including prospects for formalizing cooperation through a potential Memorandum of Understanding with the Ukrainian counterpart institution.
During the meeting, Ombudsman Chande expressed appreciation for the Ambassador’s visit and emphasized Mozambique’s willingness to deepen institutional cooperation with Ukraine’s Ombudsman. He acknowledged the ongoing socio-political challenges caused by the war in Ukraine, which have led to widespread violations of the rights of women, the elderly, girls, and children.
Ambassador Tronenko highlighted the importance of the meeting as a meaningful step toward reinforcing institutional dialogue and identifying areas of shared interest. He reaffirmed the readiness of Ukraine’s diplomatic mission in Maputo to support initiatives that strengthen the relationship between the two nations’ justice and human rights institutions.
Also present at the meeting were Mario Seuane, Secretary-General of the Office of Justice; Felismina Muhacha, Advisor; and the Political Commissioner of the Embassy of Ukraine.
