The Mediator of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, a member institution of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ombudsman Association, participated in an international seminar on restorative justice held in Barcelona, Spain, on 11–12 May 2026.

Gaoussou TOURÉ represented the institution at the seminar, which was organized by the Association of Ombudsmans and Mediators of the Francophonie and the International Association of Francophone Prosecutors, in collaboration with the Office of the Mediator of Catalonia.
Held under the theme “Restorative Justice: Inspiration for Public Prosecutors and the Mediation of Independent Authorities Responsible for the Protection of Rights,” the seminar brought together delegations from 17 countries across Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
The discussions focused on strengthening understanding of restorative justice mechanisms, particularly approaches based on dialogue, voluntary participation, reconciliation, and the promotion of social peace.
The seminar concluded with the adoption of a joint declaration encouraging states and mediation institutions to promote restorative justice models within their respective national systems.
At the conclusion of the event, Mediator of the Republic Gaoussou TOURÉ emphasized the importance of restorative justice for Côte d’Ivoire, noting that such approaches contribute significantly to strengthening mutual understanding, social cohesion, and peaceful coexistence among communities.
The participation reflects the continued commitment of the Mediator of the Republic toward promoting dialogue, conflict resolution, protection of rights, and sustainable peace through modern and inclusive justice mechanisms.
