Justice Ombudsman Isaque Chande hosted British High Commissioner Ms. Helen Lewis to exchange views on strengthening the institution’s effectiveness and addressing real challenges faced by citizens. The meeting focused on identifying possible areas of cooperation aimed at reinforcing the protection of citizens’ rights and fundamental freedoms.

During the discussion, the Justice Ombudsman presented the institution’s priorities and constraints, including the need for expansion, improved infrastructure, and stronger mechanisms for community engagement. He also highlighted outreach initiatives such as the “Caravans of Justice,” organized to enhance contact with communities and bring services closer to the public.

The High Commissioner expressed openness to potential cooperation in areas of common interest, noting the value of partnerships and synergies to help reduce gaps and support more active protection of constitutionally guaranteed rights.
