Pemba, Mozambique – The Office of the Ombudsman (Provedoria de Justiça) will inaugurate its first provincial delegation in Cabo Delgado (Pemba) this Thursday, marking a historic step in bringing justice services closer to citizens in the northern region of the country.
The new delegation is expected to provide a direct channel for citizens to raise concerns and seek support in addressing challenges related to governance, legality, and access to justice.
This milestone also signals the start of a nationwide expansion plan, under which delegations will be established across all provinces. The effort is being carried out in coordination with the Government and with the support of key partners, including the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Institute for Multiparty Democracy (IMD).
The Ombudsman’s Office emphasized that the presence of provincial delegations will strengthen citizen trust, promote accountability, and ensure that the principles of legality and justice are upheld at the community level.
