Nampula, Mozambique – The Provision of Justice Office has carried out a series of institutional visits in Nampula city, aimed at strengthening its presence, promoting citizens’ rights, and reinforcing cooperation with public service institutions.

The delegation, led by Assessor Felismina Muhacha, began its mission at Nampula Central Hospital, where they were welcomed by the hospital administrator and technical team. The visit included inspections of the pediatric, forensic, and morgue departments, providing insight into operational challenges and patient care conditions. Discussions with the hospital’s management highlighted the Ombudsman’s role in defending justice, legality, and the protection of fundamental rights in public service delivery.

The mission continued at the Office of Women and Child Victims of Domestic Violence, where the Justice Office presented its mandate as a protective and supportive institution for vulnerable groups. The team emphasized the importance of ensuring access to justice and providing timely assistance to victims.

The final stop was the Nampula Provincial Penitentiary, where the delegation met with the warden and staff to assess detention conditions and the welfare of prison officers. Key issues raised included overcrowding, service delivery challenges, and the need for improved support mechanisms within the correctional system.

These institutional visits form part of the Justice Office’s ongoing efforts to bring services closer to citizens, promote transparency and accountability, and strengthen inter-institutional cooperation for the advancement of fundamental rights and social justice.
