Shaheed Benazirabad, September 11, 2025 — As part of the ongoing Taxpayers Awareness Campaign, the Honourable Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO), Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah (Hilal-i-Imtiaz, Sitara-i-Imtiaz), visited the Shaheed Benazirabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SBCC&I).

The FTO was warmly received by Dr. Muhammad Ayub, President of SBCC&I, along with office bearers of the Chamber. In his welcome remarks, Dr. Ayub stressed the significance of raising awareness about the FTO’s mandate of providing taxpayers a platform for free, impartial, and timely redressal of grievances against maladministration by Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials.
Delivering his keynote address, Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah emphasized the need for creating an enabling environment of “ease of doing business” and treating taxpayers with dignity and respect. He reiterated that the FTO office is committed not only to resolving complaints but also to driving systemic reforms for a fair and transparent tax regime.
Mr. Almas Ali Jovindah, Advisor Legal & Head of Youth Initiatives, presented an overview of the FTO’s achievements under Dr. Jah’s leadership, highlighting that more than 55,000 complaints have been filed in the last four years, compared to only 35,000 complaints in the institution’s first 21 years since its inception in 2000.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Chamber President presented a memento to the Honourable FTO, who in return gifted his recently authored book, Mohatsib Ki Diary. Mr. Lal Chand Lohana, Convenor Taxation, offered a vote of thanks on behalf of the Chamber.
The Honourable FTO was accompanied by Advisors Muhammad Nazim Saleem and Farooq Azam Memon, Mr. Abid Mehmood (Director RO Karachi), and Mr. Adil Shah (Assistant Advisor RO Hyderabad).
