Islamabad — Addressing an event organized by the Ministry of Human Rights at the Prime Minister’s House, the Hon’ble Federal Ombudsperson for Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace, Fauzia Viqar, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to justice, equality, and the protection of women’s rights.

In her remarks, Ms. Viqar emphasized that no woman should ever be forced to choose between her dignity and her livelihood. Highlighting the transformative role of the Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace (FOSPAH), she noted that the institution has successfully facilitated the restoration of property worth over PKR 10 billion to women and has delivered swift, free, and sensitive justice to thousands of complainants.

The Ombudsperson underscored that FOSPAH’s procedures—designed to be fast, accessible, cost-free, and survivor-centred—have fostered growing trust among women and have generated a strong preventive effect across workplaces and institutions nationwide.

Ms. Viqar further called for enhanced resource allocation, strengthened inheritance mutation processes, and expanded legal aid mechanisms to sustain and deepen the impact of FOSPAH’s work. She stressed that institutional strengthening is essential to ensure long-term protection, empowerment, and equal opportunity for women.

Reaffirming its mandate, FOSPAH remains steadfast in its commitment to building safe and inclusive work environments and to amplifying women’s voices across Pakistan, in line with constitutional guarantees and international human rights standards.
