Multan, Pakistan – August 22, 2025
A widow who had been struggling for years to secure her rightful insurance claim finally received relief after the intervention of the Federal Ombudsman’s Office Multan.

On Friday, Dr. Muhammad Zahid Malik, Regional Head of the Federal Ombudsman Office Multan and South Punjab Coordinator, directed the State Life Insurance Corporation (SLIC) to honor the insurance policy of the late husband of Ms. Samina Nazar. Following his orders, SLIC released a cheque of over Rs. 2 million to the complainant.

Ms. Nazar had earlier lodged a complaint with the Ombudsman’s office, stating that although her husband had maintained a valid State Life insurance policy until his death, the corporation failed to process her claim. Investigations revealed that SLIC had withheld the claim citing “missing records” from its office.

Dr. Malik ordered SLIC to verify the documents provided by the widow and settle the claim within 15 days. In compliance, the corporation approved the payment.

Expressing her gratitude, Ms. Nazar thanked the Federal Ombudsman and his team for their swift and fair action.

Dr. Malik reiterated that citizens should not hesitate to lodge complaints against maladministration in any federal institution. He emphasized that complaints can be submitted on plain paper, in person, by post, or through email, ensuring a simple, accessible, and cost-free process for the public.
