Excellency Mehmet Akarca, Chief Ombudsman of the Republic of Türkiye and President of the OIC Ombudsman Association (OICOA), participated in the 10th Meeting of the Eurasian Ombudsman Association (EOA), accompanied by Public Supervisor Ms. Fatma Benli Yalçın.

The meeting focused on the protection of rights of people living in hard-to-reach, remote and rural areas, bringing together Ombudsman institutions from across the region to discuss cooperation and experience-sharing.

During the event, Mr. Akarca emphasized the importance of ensuring equal access to justice for all citizens, regardless of geographical barriers. He noted that in Türkiye, the Ombudsman Institution conducts regional outreach, distributes informational materials nationwide, engages actively with national media, and offers multiple easy-access channels for citizens to submit complaints ensuring that every individual can seek redress.

On the sidelines of the summit, Mr. Akarca held a bilateral meeting with Ms. Tatiana Moskalkova, High Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation. Discussions focused on strengthening institutional cooperation, exchanging best practices, and enhancing collaboration among Ombudsman institutions in the Eurasian region.

The meeting was attended by Public Supervisor Ms. Fatma Benli Yalçın and Türkiye’s Ambassador to Moscow, H.E. Tanju Bilgiç.

As President of OICOA, Mr. Akarca reiterated Türkiye’s commitment to promoting cooperation, transparency, and accessible justice across OIC Member States and the wider Eurasian region. Both sides agreed to maintain dialogue and explore further joint initiatives.
