The Honourable Mehmet Akarca, Chief Ombudsman of Türkiye and President of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Ombudsman Association (OICOA), received a distinguished delegation from Penal Reform International (PRI) at his office. The delegation comprised Ms. Tsira Chanturia, Regional Director of the PRI South Caucasus Office, and Mr. Miranda Merkviladze, Project Manager.

The meeting provided a constructive forum for substantive discussions on the ongoing projects and programmatic initiatives being carried out by Penal Reform International across the region. Central to the dialogue were prospects for meaningful cooperation between PRI and the Public Audit Authority, particularly within the framework of PRI’s active project portfolio.

Both sides expressed mutual interest in fostering collaboration that advances shared objectives in the realms of accountability, human rights, the rule of law, and the fair and humane treatment of individuals within justice systems. The exchange of views reflected a common commitment to institutional partnership as a cornerstone of sustainable reform.

The OICOA remains firmly committed to nurturing constructive engagement with international organisations and civil society bodies that share its foundational values of justice, transparency, and the protection of citizens’ rights across member states and partner nations.
