Moscow, Russia – October 2025
Chief Ombudsman of the Republic of Türkiye and President of OICOA, Mr. Mehmet Akarca, together with Public Auditor Ms. Fatma Benli Yalçın, participated in the IX International Scientific and Applied Conference held in Moscow.

Addressing the session on “Protection of Human Rights in the Context of Digitalization of Societies,” Mr. Akarca highlighted the growing importance of safeguarding fundamental freedoms in the digital age.
He stated:

“With digital transformation, the concept of digital rights has emerged, supported by new international regulations. This process brings new duties and responsibilities to us as Ombudsmen. We are a vital mechanism in ensuring a fair and secure digital environment where human dignity, fundamental rights, and freedoms are protected against the risks posed by digitalization.”

During his visit, Mr. Akarca also held a meeting with Mr. Igor Krasnov, President of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. He congratulated Mr. Krasnov on his new appointment and expressed Türkiye’s interest in further strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the field of human rights and law.

The meeting was also attended by Türkiye’s Ambassador to Moscow, H.E. Tanju Bilgiç.
