A distinguished delegation from the National Board of Revenue (NBR), People’s Republic of Bangladesh, paid an official visit to the Federal Tax Ombudsman Secretariat (FTO), Islamabad, and called on the Federal Tax Ombudsman, Zafar ul Haq Hijazi.
The delegation was led by Md. Lutful Azeem and comprised senior officials of the National Board of Revenue, including Abul Kalam Kaikobad, Member (Tax Administration and Human Resource Management); Mutasim Billah Faruque, First Secretary (Tax Policy); Mohammad Abdur Rakib, Commissioner of Taxes, Income Tax Intelligence and Investigation Unit; Md. Jafar Imam, First Secretary (NBR); Dewan Mohammad Gholam Kibria, Second Secretary (International Agreements and Opinions); and Tayub Ali, Press Counsellor.

Welcoming the delegation, Mr. Zafar ul Haq Hijazi expressed appreciation for the visit and outlined his vision and future priorities for the Federal Tax Ombudsman institution. He emphasized the centrality of accountability, institutional efficiency, and effective redressal of taxpayers’ grievances, while underscoring the importance of sustained dialogue and engagement to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh in the field of tax administration.
During the meeting, Advisor (Customs) Arslan Subuctageen delivered a comprehensive presentation on the mandate, objectives, procedural framework, and performance indicators of the Federal Tax Ombudsman. The presentation highlighted the institution’s emphasis on transparency, efficiency, and taxpayer facilitation as core pillars of its operational framework.
The discussions explored avenues for future collaboration between the National Board of Revenue of Bangladesh and the Federal Tax Ombudsman institution, particularly in the areas of tax dispute resolution, institutional cooperation, and the exchange of best practices. Both sides acknowledged the value of such cooperation in promoting a fair, transparent, and efficient tax environment conducive to trade, investment, and economic confidence.

The meeting was also attended by senior officers of the FTO Secretariat, including Khalid Javed, Registrar to the Federal Tax Ombudsman, and Muhammad Nazim Saleem, Advisor (Sales Tax), reflecting the Secretariat’s commitment to international engagement and strengthened institutional cooperation.
