The Human Rights Ombudsman of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a member institution of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ombudsman Association, continues to strengthen international cooperation and dialogue in the field of human rights protection and institutional partnership.
In this regard, Sabina Aliyeva, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Ombudsman), received Marcela Čavojová and Zuzana Matějčková, members of the Slovak National Council, during their official visit to Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva highlighted the close and friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Slovakia and expressed satisfaction regarding the ongoing cooperation between the ombudsman institutions of both countries.
The Ombudsman informed the delegation in detail about the mandate and activities of the Azerbaijan Ombudsman Institution, particularly initiatives aimed at the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
She further noted that the institution’s mandate has expanded in recent years, including the establishment of monitoring groups focused on ensuring equality and preventing discrimination, while also sharing positive experiences achieved in these areas.
The Slovak parliamentarians expressed appreciation for the warm reception and emphasized the successful continuation of multifaceted relations between Azerbaijan and Slovakia. They also highlighted the active participation of Slovak companies in reconstruction and development efforts within Azerbaijan’s liberated territories.
The meeting concluded with a broad exchange of views on issues of mutual interest and future prospects for enhanced institutional cooperation and partnership.
The engagement reflects the continued commitment of the Azerbaijan Ombudsman Institution toward promoting international cooperation, human rights protection, equality, and institutional dialogue.
