A training on “Protection of the Right to Access Information” was held for officials of the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan (MSPPA), as well as heads of the Agency’s subordinate bodies. The training was organized at the initiative of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Ombudsman), Ms. Sabina Aliyeva.

During the session, Ms. Lamiya Zeynalova, Head of the Department for Protection of the Right to Access Information at the Ombudsman’s Office, delivered detailed briefings on the requirements of international and national legislation governing the right to access information. She also outlined the key duties of state bodies and other information owners, emphasizing the role of access to information in strengthening transparency and accountable public administration.
Representatives of the Ombudsman’s Office further informed participants about the Ombudsman’s functions in monitoring compliance by information owners with the obligations established under the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Access to Information.” The session also highlighted the Ombudsman’s authority to draw up a protocol in cases where legislative requirements are violated.
As part of the programme, a video clip prepared on the topic was screened, and participants were introduced to educational printed materials and methodological aids designed to support awareness-raising and the practical implementation of access to information standards.
The training concluded with an interactive discussion in which representatives of the Ombudsman’s Office responded to participants’ questions in detail.
