Tripoli, August 27, 2025 – In a step aimed at reinforcing financial transparency and accountability, the Head of the Administrative Supervisory Board, Mr. Abdullah Qaderbah, met with Dr. Ali Mansour, Chairman of the National Committee to Follow the Closure of the State’s Final Accounts, formed under Board Decision No. (555) of 2025.
The meeting focused on reviewing the committee’s key activities, underscoring its vital role within the public spending cycle as a strategic tool for monitoring financial performance and ensuring integrity in the use of public resources.
Discussions highlighted persistent challenges, including the delay of numerous government entities in submitting their financial statements to the Ministry of Finance, weak coordination mechanisms among institutions, and the slow implementation of critical actions required for finalizing state accounts.
Mr. Qaderbah stressed that the closure of final accounts is a collective national responsibility, requiring sustained coordination and effective cooperation among the Ministry of Finance, public institutions, supervisory bodies, and the House of Representatives. He emphasized the need for full compliance with existing legislation to promote the values of transparency, accountability, and financial responsibility.
It was noted that the committee operates under the supervision of the Planning, Finance, and General Budget Committee of the House of Representatives, following outcomes of a meeting held at the House of Deputies in Tripoli earlier this month. Its membership includes representatives of the Accounting Committee, Central Bank of Libya, Ministry of Finance, and the Accounts Directorate within the Ministry of Finance.
This initiative reflects Libya’s ongoing commitment to institutional reform and fiscal discipline, ensuring that public resources are managed effectively and transparently in line with international standards.
