Kampala, Uganda – Inspector General of Government (IGG) Beti Kamya has announced that Uganda will host the East African Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (EAAACA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) on November 20, 2025, in Kampala. The event is expected to serve as a pivotal platform for renewing regional commitments to fighting corruption and reinforcing transparency and good governance.
Speaking after a strategic meeting with President Yoweri Museveni at State House, Kamya confirmed that the President has been formally invited to deliver the keynote address at the summit.
“This AGM is more than a regional gathering—it is a powerful moment for East African states to renew their resolve in tackling corruption, strengthening institutional cooperation, and upholding the rule of law,” Kamya stated.
The summit will convene top anti-corruption officials, legal scholars, civil society advocates, and international partners from across the East African Community (EAC). Delegates will engage in high-level discussions on topics including asset recovery, cross-border investigations, whistleblower protection, and the use of digital technology in combating corruption.
Established in 2007, EAAACA aims to foster cooperation among national anti-corruption bodies in the region. Its mission includes facilitating mutual legal assistance, sharing best practices, and building institutional capacity to fight graft.
Kamya also noted that Uganda is finalizing logistical and policy preparations to ensure the summit’s success. The event arrives at a time when East African nations are under increasing public pressure to deliver tangible reforms and strengthen accountability mechanisms.
Organizers hope the Kampala summit will galvanize political will and encourage coordinated efforts to combat corruption across borders.
