In a landmark initiative to enhance access to justice and promote women’s rights, the Provincial Khatoon Mohtasib of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ms. Rubab Mehdi, organized the first-ever Khuli Kacheri (open court) and awareness session in Dera Ismail Khan, in collaboration with the district administration.
Held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, the event brought together key government officials, including the Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan Division Mr. Daud Khan, Regional Police Officer Mr. Ghulam Mubashir Maken, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Abdul Nasir Khan, and District Police Officer Mr. Ziauddin Ahmed, along with representatives from various departments, legal professionals, civil society, and educational institutions.
The session witnessed participation from approximately 950 attendees, with a strong presence of women from diverse backgrounds. During the Khuli Kacheri, several complaints were presented by citizens, and immediate relief measures and directions were issued on the spot, demonstrating an efficient and responsive grievance redressal mechanism.
Participants were also provided with comprehensive information on legal protections for women, including inheritance rights, workplace harassment laws, gender-based violence prevention, family court procedures, and cybercrime complaint mechanisms. The session highlighted accessible complaint registration channels, including online platforms and district-level focal persons.
This initiative marks a historic milestone as the first Khuli Kacheri conducted by a Provincial Khatoon Mohtasib in Dera Ismail Khan and the largest participation recorded for such an event in the province, reflecting growing public trust in institutional outreach.
The initiative aligns with the broader vision of ensuring accessible, transparent, and citizen-centric justice delivery, particularly for women and marginalized communities.
Under the leadership of Ms. Rubab Mehdi, the institution continues to expand its outreach through awareness campaigns, complaint facilitation forums, and mobile initiatives to ensure prompt and effective justice across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
