Lahore, Pakistan – In a significant step toward advancing gender equality and workplace safety, Federal Ombudsperson Ms. Fauzia Viqar met with members of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce & Industry Lahore (WCCIL) to discuss legal protections for women under the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010.

The dialogue, hosted by the Executive Board of WCCIL, focused on strengthening awareness of the 2010 Act, fostering safer and more inclusive professional environments, and ensuring that women entrepreneurs and professionals are equipped with the knowledge and tools to claim their rights.

Ms. Viqar outlined the role of the Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment (FOSPAH) and emphasized the importance of accessible, responsive mechanisms to report and address workplace harassment.

“When women feel safe at work, they thrive. And when they thrive, businesses, communities, and economies grow,” she noted.
“Bridging the gap between policy and practice is critical. Every woman deserves to know her rights, and every institution must be held accountable to uphold them.”

The interactive session encouraged open dialogue, addressed implementation gaps, and explored how business associations can play a proactive role in fostering a culture of zero tolerance for harassment.
