The Ombudsman Institution of Türkiye, a member institution of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ombudsman Association, hosted students and academics from Aksaray University, Ankara Bilim University, and Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University as part of an educational and institutional awareness visit.
The visit program was attended by Mehmet Akarca, Chief Ombudsman of Türkiye and President of OICOA, along with Ertunç Erkan Balta.
During his address, Chief Ombudsman Mehmet Akarca emphasized the role of the Ombudsman Institution as a constitutional and legal mechanism for the protection of rights and freedoms, as well as an important human rights institution accessible to all citizens free of charge.
He informed the students that applications submitted to the institution are reviewed impartially and resolved within a six-month period in accordance with established procedures and legal frameworks.
Public Ombudsman Ertunç Erkan Balta provided participants with an overview of the historical evolution of the ombudsman institution, its organizational structure, and its primary fields of activity and public service.
The visit aimed to strengthen legal awareness among students, familiarize young people with institutional mechanisms for the protection of rights, and encourage greater understanding of democratic governance and accountability structures.
The Ombudsman Institution of Türkiye expressed appreciation to the participating academics and students for their visit and engagement, reaffirming its commitment to promoting public awareness, human rights education, and institutional transparency.
As President of OICOA, Chief Ombudsman Mehmet Akarca continues to support initiatives that encourage youth engagement, legal literacy, and cooperation among ombudsman institutions at both national and international levels.
