Baku – During Human Rights Month, declared by Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva, the Ombudsman’s Office organized a comprehensive training for employees of the State Migration Service focused on the protection of children’s rights.

The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of migration officials in safeguarding children and to raise awareness of national and international standards relevant to children’s rights. Senior officials of the institution, Nigar Aghayeva and Azer İsali, presented on the role of children’s rights, the Ombudsman’s mandate, and activities, including preventive and independent monitoring mechanisms, legislative initiatives, and educational programs for various target groups.

Participants were also introduced to key international legal instruments, including the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and its optional protocols, as well as national legislation, including the newly adopted Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Child Rights” (2026).

Interactive discussions allowed participants to raise questions and exchange perspectives, fostering practical understanding and collaborative approaches to protecting children within migration contexts.
