The OICOA Secretariat recently had the honor of hosting six Indonesian interns studying law in Pakistan at Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Secretariat, a proud member of OICOA. This initiative provided these young students with valuable insights into the workings of ombudsman offices, alongside practical field visits to various tax offices of Pakistan. These interns took the lead in organizing a session hosted by the Indonesian Embassy, focusing on youth empowerment opportunities through the OICOA platform.

The event was graced by H.E. Mr. Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma, the Charge d’Affaires, who delivered an engaging presentation on Indonesia’s economic indicators and its bilateral relations with Pakistan. Following this, a video message from the Executive Secretary of OICOA, Mr Almas Jovindah emphasized the organization’s active role in empowering youth, highlighting key initiatives like the OICOA Internship Exchange Program. Ms. Tayyaba Munir, in charge of the FTO internship program, elaborated on the background and inception of OICOA. She extended an invitation to the Charge d’Affaires and the Indonesian Embassy to explore collaborative ventures for youth development and opportunities.Mr. Khalid Javed, the Registrar of FTO, expressed gratitude to the Charge d’Affaires, commending the efforts of both OICOA and FTO in fostering youth development and recognizing the impressive contributions of the Indonesian interns.

The session was further enriched by a brief video message from H.E. Mr. Mohamed Najih, the Chairman of the Ombudsman of Indonesia, who praised the OICOA platform and acknowledged the hard work of the interns at the FTO.One of the interns, Mr. Hafidz Adhi Karana, shared his experiences in detail, expressing gratitude for the opportunity and a desire to bring the expertise he gained back to Indonesia. His insights portrayed the impact of the program on fostering cross-cultural exchanges and enhancing professional skills which is aligned with the vision of OICOA.

The event concluded on a warm note, with the exchange of souvenirs between the Indonesian Embassy and the OICOA Secretariat, symbolizing the commitment to ongoing collaboration and mutual growth in youth empowerment. This initiative not only strengthened ties between Indonesia and Pakistan but also paved the path for similar future initiatives to empower the youth of the two countries through the platform of OICOA.
